(I have to caveat this right away by saying it’s just a hook as I don’t want any hateful emails).
I had never heard of naive theory until recently but it has really rocked my world.
If you went on Booking.com to book a hotel and there was NO information other than price how do you decide which property was the best?
Naive theory suggests that when we are short of information our brain fills in the gaps with the information we DO have.
In the above example our automatic reaction would be that the most expensive must be the best.
It’s the same when we eat at a restaurant.
I assume the Japanese Wagyu steak is the best because it’s 3x the price of anything else! (I’m fortunate to have had this once or twice and I can confirm it absolutely is the best).
Although this CAN be true, it isn’t always.
I’ve had some amazing experiences at hotels, restaurants and events that were half the price of others.
When it comes to Small Group PT we are actually somewhere nearer the middle of the scale for Edinburgh prices yet nowhere has anywhere near as broad a timetable as us, such a variety of classes or as many SGPT slots (these ones are facts).
I also think we have the best coaches, programming, facility and community but these are opinions:)
So when it comes to deciding where is right for your health and fitness in Edinburgh naive theory is screwing you over, Elevate98 is the place to be!
