Elevate-98

Two thoughts for a Monday morning.

A morning of coaching here at Elevate98 done.

It is so nice to see all our members still smashing their training even as Christmas nears and we hit sub-zero temperatures.

I think it's the nature of a self-employed person to constantly doubt what you are doing. Whether it's what we charge, how we support members away from the gym floor or our coaching product myself and all the staff spend an ungodly amount of time thinking about how we can do things better and have anxiety about whether we are doing enough.

I always feel so much more confidence in our mission once I've spent a bit of time coaching.

Seeing people getting coached well, progressing their fitness and most importantly having fun doing it (well mostly) is reassurance we are on the right path.

Anyway, my two thoughts are this:

'Be impatient with action but patient with results.'

Patience is a virtue in all walks of life but especially health and fitness.

At Elevate98 we fight the good fight where we encourage people to view fitness as a sustainable and lifelong pursuit rather than an overnight transformation and it's important we all have patience in those results coming.

However we should be impatient in our action to achieve those results.

Whether that's by tracking food, adding an extra training session or getting out a walk in the freezing cold we want to do all we can to get those results as quick as we can whilst simultaneously accepting we need to be patient.

My second thought is triggered by a severe case of man flu last week (I can hear you playing the world's smallest violin) and a slightly more serious point.

When we have our health we have 100 goals but when we don't have health we only have one, to feel better.

I am an ambitious person. I have lots of goals and things I want to achieve and probably push myself a little much at times.

Last week when I was ill I literally just wanted to feel better. Business and performance goals were pushed to the side as I simply chased feeling myself.

At the weekend we want to visit my partners grandad in hopsital.

He is okay but after a few scares post Op he said similar to us. All his other worries pale in comparison to wanting to feel better and get out of hospital.

So yeah by all means have work goals, family endeavours and wealth targets but just remember our health underpins ALL of this.

We can't have any of it if we aren't healthy...
