I write this DYING.
On Saturday I completed two Hyrox events, one solo in the morning, followed by a pairs event with my dad in the evening.
I am very much feeling the effects of doing effectively a half marathon (I ran over 23k total) and some stations alongside it.
However in the car back I did have a little bit of reflection.
I am at an age (26) where a lot of my friends are seeing less and less of their parents and have less in common. To be able to compete alongside my dad as well as having our whole family there watching was a special experience.
So, if you are lucky enough that your parents can still exercise then encourage them to do it!
3 Years ago there is a video of my dad managing to run for 51 seconds before he almost passes out, on Saturday he ran 8k with various other fitness events thrown in between.
He smoked 20 cigarettes a day for 20 years, drank 7/8 full sugar fizzy drinks a day and averaged 4 takeaways a week.
If he can do it then your family certainly can!
On the flip side if you are the parent (or grandparent) then really use kids as your motivation to exercise. Not only will it hopefully give you longer and better years with them it may also act as something you can do together!
P.S. We also had women's day yesterday which was a HUGE success so keep your eyes peeled for a run down of that this week.
